How to make balloon table decorations without helium?

Helium balloons are fun, simple, and a must-have party everywhere, right?! So what do you do if the justification of your venue has a rule saying “no helium balloons” What are you doing for decorations?

To make impressive decorations, standard latex balloons can be filled with normal air: mini balloons are placed on cups and sticks. For visitors, these make cute favors and can also act as tabletop decorations.

Magical little balloons with tails on them are connecting balloons. The conventional opening, where you blow air in and tie, is on one hand. A “tail” has the opposite end, allowing you to easily attach tail-to-tail balloons that form a balloon chain.

Right now, balloon arches have a moment and are becoming very tall, and for good reason. At a very affordable cost, these arches will produce a super wow factor. Outside or indoors, they can be used and can be assembled a few days in advance. Bear in mind, though, they need a lot of work and lots of balloons.

Only hop over to Pinterest and type in the arch of the balloon and find endless beautiful inspiration for you. Usually, Arches are created using a range of size balloons: the most widely available sizes are 5′, 11′, 16′, 24′ and 36′ latex balloons. What’s amazing….is that you can literally fill up with normal air!

Some like to add a metallic orbz pop, some confetti balloons, or a floral accent, and this looks great but adds to the price. I’ve heard a couple of them use chicken wire but frankly, that sounds insane. PVC arch kits can be bought, giving you a solid shape to stick your balloons to.

My trick is this awesome non-adhesive tape made for this very purpose, called decorator strips. To slip the base of your inflated balloons into this strip, this product is the ticket to do this right and without losing your health in the process. This strip is pre-punched with small holes.

Size of air-fill ballons

Another excellent alternative is foil air-fill balloons. Air-filled balloons usually come in either 14″ or 16″ sizes. Helium is usually used for foil (or mylar) balloons that are 34″ and 40″ in size, but they can be air-filled. Foil balloons 14″ or 16″ in size, on the other hand, must be used with air, not helium.

They are meant to be used only in that manner! And this way, they look crazy cute. If you go rogue and fill them with helium anyway, they’re still not going to float and the inflator on the helium tank will hurt the balloon and ruin it. Just hop over to instagram and see your favorite accounts with these cute little balloons partying and making announcements.

Most popular sentences for balloon table decorations without helium

In the bottom of the balloon tail you pop that and blast, easy peasy. Modarabbit suggest you should scotch these tails taped up to the balloon so they’re not funny to hang down. To run a string through, each letter/numeral/symbol has a tab(s) with holes so you can hang them up as a garland.

These tabs are a tad flimsy and tear all the way through sometimes. So gently loop, and if it does rip- with repair tab scotch tape so you can easily string. Using double-sided duct tape as an option and simply tape it to a wall or window. Because in every letter of the alphabet, these balloons are available, you can say whatever you want!

In popular sentences, such as “congrats” “happy birthday” XOXO, boy, one, love and more, they are often sold pre-packaged! These phrases are marketed as either individual letter kits or written in cursive handwriting as a single balloon. Super adorable and very famous, they are!

  • Balloons packed with helium are so finicky:

You can purchase a helium tank and fill the balloons yourself, but this is yet another task on the same day,

Of course, the global helium crisis is also making it much more difficult these days just to find helium-filled balloons.

The most disappointing thing is that when the balloons stop floating the next day, kids are still frustrated.

Children’s celebrations, on the other hand, and balloons go together like ice cream and cake. You may have one without the other, but they’re magic together.

So, instead of decorating with balloons without helium, I’d rather concentrate on decorating with

And, you know what, there are plenty of choices with a little bit of imagination and outside-the-tank thinking. You can also make it appear like the balloons are floating without helium!
